the street to what you think would be the safest place in town. the head quarters to alameda police. two of the five suspects were caught on surveillance inside, on lincoln avenue. this man and woman. they were allegedly involved in an armed robbery attempt 1:30 a.m. march 3rd. >> it is concerning that it is such a brazen attack within close proximity of the police department. >> reporter: the suspect pulled a gun and demanded money in the store parking lot yards from the front door of the alameda police. >> the victim did not comply at which point the suspect struck him in the face with the handgun. >> reporter: that is when the victim tried to flee. >> he ran across the street, towards the police department, and was tackled on the north side of the building. >> in a spot where police cameras are not located. the victim is out of hospital but the suspects are still on the loose. >> homeless people around here some times but other than that

topics section on the front page. marin county sheriff's department said deputies discovered 700 marijuana plants as they investigated an assault case. these are photos of the plants investigators found in a home near inverness they went to investigate a report of a woman, beating her sleeping roommate with a baseball bat. the plants were growing inside two buildings on the property the 27-year-old is now wanted for attempted murder she is described at 5'9", weighing 135 pounds she has a multicolored mohawk and hazel eyes she was last seen driving this distinctive van she may have a gun and should be considered dangerous. anyone with information on her where abouts is asked to call authorities. a morgan hill mother was sentenced for abandoning her 10- year-old caught we are a cart full of stolen groceries she received a 68 day sentence.

his family working as a truck driver for safeway. >> i feel like life is so unfair. >> reporter: saturday around 8:00 p.m. he was driving his girlfriend, mother and brother to the movies he was pulling away from the curb in front of his home and was making a u turn when a blue sedan came speeding up hill and slammed into them nearly sheering the car in half. the impact killed amato his mother and brother and critically injured his 20-year- old girlfriend. >> now his girlfriend is fighting for her life we cannot even see her. >> reporter: the driver of the blue sedan has been identified as 28-year-old dennis of sunny vail authorities tell me he was involved in a hit and run nearby and was speeding away when he collided with amato. >> sad the entire family died. >> horrible. >> dozens gathered around the memorial created for the family. his brother was a freshman at west more high and avid soccer

the search for a missing bay area woman is expected to expand tomorrow. police released new information. heather holmes is live at first congregation church downtown oakland where volunteers mapped out strategy tonight. >> reporter: frank, for the very first time since she was reported missing four days ago we are learning about a sighting and the news brings hope to her friends, many of whom met here tonight at her church. >> help us, find erica. >> reporter: those close to erica, are relying on each other and their faith as another day passes without any word, from the 31-year-old oakland woman. >> no matter what it is god just give us a sign, that she is okay. >> reporter: today, a possible sign, police say after she was reported missing thursday, she was seen in west oakland in good condition and investigators believe she left on her own but wouldn't provide any other information. >> huge relief. i hope it is true.
